Heidi’s rich and varied resume reveals the range of expertise she brings to her clients at Kinetik. Her educational, sport, and professional experiences have greatly impacted her as she incorporates orthopedic and sports medicine, visualization therapy, and unique massage and bodywork to her practice of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
Heidi is a decorated athlete from her time at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland as well as her years serving in the US Navy. Among many accomplishments, Heidi held 14 swim records during her time at the Academy as well as earning the 1996 Admiral Lawrence Sword for Most Accomplished Female Athlete. She finished in the top 5 of the 2001 Military Eco Challenge and represented the winning Navy women’s team at the Military Games in the pentathlon. She was the 2002 runner up for Navy’s Top Military Athlete. She has also competed in numerous triathlon and adventure races including Ironman and is active in the CrossFit community in San Diego.
Heidi graduated from the Naval Academy in 1996, served actively in the US Navy for the next 9 years, and then served in the Navy Reserves until retiring in 2016 as a Commander.
In 2005, Heidi left active service to attend graduate school for acupuncture and TCM at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) emphasizing in postural alignment for improved sports performance and injury rehabilitation and prevention. While at PCOM, she also completed her HHP (1000 massage training hours) and started her own massage practice in Coronado, CA. After graduation in 2008, Heidi studied abroad in China, India, and Nepal and became a teaching assistant for her mentor Matt Callison in his Sports Medicine Acupuncture Program.
Heidi is also a certified yoga instructor, certified advanced Theta practitioner, practices functional medicine, is in the process of completing her Healing touch certification, and gives motivational speeches on the power of the mind, tapping into athletic potential, and the power of visualization at CrossFit Invictus’ Athlete Camps.
As she invests her time healing and inspiring others, Heidi herself is grounded by the loves of her life: her husband Brandon and two beautiful daughters. She loves traveling, meditating, and being active.
