This class gives a lot of bang for the buck. In just 30 minutes, we have the opportunity to work on both strength and mobility. I like how the exercises can be done with very few props, and they are easily adaptable so they can also be done on a track or in a park as part of pre run or post run routine. The cues are easy to follow, and I find it helpful that each class has a different focus - core, hips, glutes or knees, etc.

As runners its important to understand how muscle patterns can effect our performance, and Kinetik's virtual classes are a great tool for this. During the class, Jonathan walks you through the exercises step by step, and is also available for any questions throughout the entire session. I’m really enjoying these classes! Jonathan’s selection of exercises is excellent for the focus of each day’s class. And each class targets a key area runners need to work on. He does a great job demonstrating each movement and the role it plays in improving your running. As you work along with him, you know how to perform each exercise correctly as well as what to be aware of and not do. I also really like the recap so if your schedule prevents you from participating in the class “live” you can do it later. Also, if there is an exercise you want to work on, or one you want to do as a warmup before you run, you can call up the video and do it. That’s a real plus! Is it for me?

Are you unable to do your usual gym routine, and are running instead? Or are you a regular runner, but you’re running on more pavement and fewer soft surfaces due to park closures? Have you been running more lately, and are experiencing soreness or pain? Are you spending most of your time seated at home, using a computer or phone, without much activity? This class will help you to improve as a runner, no matter how long you have been in the sport.

How does it work?

These virtual classes will be held in real time over the Zoom platform, 4 days per week. Our classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:30 pm, Fridays at 12 pm, and Saturdays at 8 am PDT. Each class is independent, so you can choose whichever is most convenient for you. Our classes are set up with a busy runner’s schedule in mind, and can be done in 30 minutes before or after your run. We recommend consistent and frequent participation (2-3x/week) to maximize results.

What if I miss class?

We recommend attending live if possible, to benefit from Jonathan’s advice, interaction, and feedback in real time. If you miss a class, though, we will take care of you! Each time that you register for a class, you will automatically receive an email with the class exercises and video.

How do I sign up?

Click here to create a MindBody account (and double-check your email address). Choose the days and class times that work best for you. Receive a Zoom link via email 1-4 hours prior to each class. When it is time for class to begin, find yourself plenty of floor space and click the link to get connected! Please note that you will need to register for every unique class session that you wish to attend or access.

Will this class continue after the facility reopens?

We started this strength and mobility class to fill a need for our clients during the COVID-19 crisis. We will continue to provide these classes after the shelter-in-place restrictions are lifted, through both online and in-person formats.

Where should I send my questions?

We’ve created a group called “Strength and Mobility for Runners” from the Kinetik Facebook page. This space will allow you to ask questions, clarify exercises, and engage in a virtual community with us. You can also send us an email or leave a question in the comments below.
